1) Llandefaelog Wood

Llandafaelog Wood is a charming woodland nature reserve which is renowned for its floral display in springtime. Throughout March and April, the southern section of the reserve is carpeted in wonderful wild daffodils, before being replaced with blooming bluebells in May. The reserve is backed by stunning views of Penrhyn Castle, which really makes the vibrant yellows and blues of these spectacular springtime flowers pop.

Visitors can enjoy the vibrant yellow daffodil trumpets during March and April, before the magnificent rhododendrons and azaleas make their appearance in May.

The Oak Wood is renowned for its beautiful bluebells and stitchwort in the springtime, welcoming a variety of birds including pied flycatchers and redstarts.

4) Pwll-y-Wrach

Pwll-y-Wrach Nature Reserve is home to an ancient woodland, majestic waterfall and natural pond also known as ‘the witch’s pool’. During the spring season, Pwll-y-Wrach is an exploding riot of colour, with bluebells carpeting the woodland floor and wild garlic giving off a rich scent.

5) Skirrid Fawr

Skirrid Fawr is one of Mid Wales’ best mountain walks, standing tall at a whopping 486m high. It’s a great place to admire blooming bluebells and wonderful wood anemone in the spring – with walks beginning in a bluebell-covered woodland, before rising up onto Skirrid ridge.
